Shaolin was founded on August 11th, 2003 by Xian Li "HH" Xu, in the ancient times of Project Entropia, as Entropia Universe once was named. Shaolin is one of the oldest Societies still active today.
After the early retirement of the founder, resulting in a near total collapse in May 2004, the society was rebuilt by Eleria "Orion" Starwind and our now departed leader Oberon de Monmur. Present Shaolin leader is Photonic Photon Edge .
Shaolin always emphasised age and personality, reliability, activity and financial independence, which became our primary recruiting requirements. Skills and gear have always been secondary recruitment arguments. Shaolin became very stable due to this - resulting in a very low player turnover of very skilled players. The development of a very familiar society atmosphere supported by the selection of members came as a natural by-product. Today the society is quite well known for its fine, honorable and reputable members.
The society motto is "Per Aspera ad Astra", which means "taking the hard road to the stars". This reflects the pure character of the society to achieve its goals by hard work.
